About
Craig Hanson (Ph.D., University of Chicago) is author of The English Virtuoso: Art, Medicine, and Antiquarianism in the Age of Empiricism (University of Chicago Press, 2009). His work addresses the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries, particularly in connection with patronage, the history of collecting and taste, the relationship between the arts and sciences, and the formation of national identities. He is currently working on a book on Anglo-Dutch relations along with an annotated edition of John Evelyn's Sculptura -- one of the first histories of European prints ever published.
